Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has confirmed that a "slight" change in medication contributed to midfielder Jamal Musiala's recent collapses during friendlies. The 23-year-old previously revealed he is being treated for a neurological condition that causes "temporary, brief, but easily treatable" seizures.
Kompany explained that the adjustments led to two collapses in four days against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim. "He made a slight change to his treatment, which caused some side effects. It's perfectly normal to make changes to a treatment plan," the manager stated.
I spoke with Jamal, he said, 'no problem, you can say it'. We've received much more information since then and made decisions with the help of leading experts. Jamal has everyone's support. Vincent Kompany
Sporting director Max Eberl noted that the club had been aware of the condition throughout the previous season, and it has become part of their daily life. The club remains fully committed to supporting the player, who expressed his desire to make the condition public.
Musiala will miss the upcoming German Supercup match against Borussia Dortmund and is currently training individually. Kompany aims to restore stability before the Bundesliga title defense begins against Stuttgart.
