Bruno Fernandes: 'I wanted to have won more' at Manchester United
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes reflects on his trophy haul and remains focused on winning the Premier League under Michael Carrick.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he expected to have more trophies in his collection by this stage of his time at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old, who has secured two domestic cups during his tenure, remains determined to chase the game's biggest prizes, specifically the Premier League title.
"Obviously, I wanted to have won more; it wasn't quite what I had expected for myself and for the club. But I had very good times. We managed to reach some finals; some of them we won, others we didn't. But my goal has always been to win the biggest competitions, and the Premier League is part of it. And I still have that dream in me, and I hope to achieve it." Bruno Fernandes
The 2025-26 campaign was historic for Fernandes, as he set a new record for the most assists in a single Premier League season with 21. Since joining the club in January 2020, he has made 327 appearances, contributing to 215 goals. His consistency remains a cornerstone of the team's identity as they look toward the future.
Optimism at the club has been bolstered by the permanent appointment of Michael Carrick, who took over from Ruben Amorim. Under Carrick, United won 12 of 16 matches to secure a third-place finish and a return to the Champions League. Fernandes credits the manager for bringing positive energy and new ideas that allowed the squad to find their rhythm again during a challenging transition period.
