Barcelona midfielder Pedri has offered a critical assessment of his team's performance following their 1-2 home defeat to Real Madrid in the 10th round of La Liga. The result ended the Catalan side's nine-match winning streak since the start of the season.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring after a defensive error by Gerard Martin. Although Raphinha equalized after the break, netting his 15th goal of the season, a decisive 87th-minute counter-attack led by Eduardo Camavinga resulted in Mbappe's brace and his 100th goal for the visitors.
We didn't play well at all. In the first half, we weren't ourselves — we were too slow and made silly mistakes, and you pay for that at this level. Pedri
Pedri also pointed to the defensive failure during the final goal, admitting that the team was well aware of the opponent's threat on the break but failed to stop the through ball.
The defeat marks a difficult week for the club, who also lost 2-4 to PSG in the Champions League earlier in the week. Despite the setbacks, Barcelona remains at the top of La Liga with 27 points, holding a two-point lead over Atletico Madrid and a three-point advantage over Real Madrid.
