Mourinho reveals tactical key behind El Clasico victory

Real Madrid secured an away victory against Barcelona in the tenth round of La Liga, finishing the match with a 1:2 scoreline.

Following the game, manager Jose Mourinho discussed the specific tactical adjustment that ultimately allowed his side to clinch the win. The Portuguese coach emphasized that he shifted the responsibility of attacking open space away from the strikers.

I told Camavinga: "Go and attack the open space". It is difficult for any forward to break into open zones against Barcelona, so the only solution is to do it with midfielders. If strikers try, Barcelona's defense — which is well-trained and prepared for this — catches them offside, or Joan Garcia intercepts the pass. The decision is to use midfielders, like Camavinga and Bellingham, to break this line — and it worked. Jose Mourinho

According to the manager, Barcelona’s defensive line is highly effective at handling traditional forwards, which is why involving players such as Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham proved essential in bypassing the offside trap and creating attacking advantages.
