São Paulo lifts FIFA transfer ban

São Paulo has successfully ended the transfer ban imposed by FIFA, regaining the right to register new players. The move follows the club's settlement of outstanding financial obligations.

The sanction stemmed from an unpaid installment related to the transfer of midfielder Marcos Antônio from Italian side Lazio. Because the debt was not settled by the February 27 deadline, FIFA implemented the ban earlier this year.

The club confirmed that the payment was processed on Wednesday evening, with documentation submitted to FIFA immediately afterward. Following the lifting of the restriction, São Paulo officially unveiled defender Domingos Duarte, who had already been training with the squad. The club is now preparing to register left-back Iago Borduchi, who joins on loan from Bahia.

The management team had been working to resolve the issue ahead of this Saturday’s Campeonato Brasileiro match against Grêmio. Resolving the ban allows the club to integrate these new reinforcements into the first team immediately.
