Yukhym Konoplya returns to action for Borussia Mönchengladbach

Ukrainian defender Yukhym Konoplya has made his return to the pitch for Borussia Mönchengladbach. The player featured in a friendly match against Sportfreunde Siegen, where the German side secured a comfortable 3-0 victory thanks to a goal from Robin Hack and a brace by Shuto Machino.

Konoplya started the match and completed the first half. This marks the 27-year-old's first appearance in two months. The defender moved to the German club from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer but was sidelined shortly after due to an injury sustained during pre-season training.

His return comes at a critical time for the club, which is currently sitting at the bottom of the Bundesliga table after four rounds without a point, a slump that has already resulted in a change of head coach.

Borussia Mönchengladbach is scheduled to play another friendly match against St. Pauli on October 3. Following the international break, the team will resume Bundesliga action with a match against Köln on October 11.
