Pierre Bédier, president of the Yvelines department, has stepped into the debate regarding PSG's potential new stadium. In a letter sent to the club on June 23, he defended the bid from the city of Poissy, which already hosts the Parisian training center. Poissy is currently competing with Massy to host the club's future stadium should they decide to leave the Parc des Princes.
In recent weeks, the Poissy proposal has faced criticism over the high investment required for public transport infrastructure to serve the site. Projections from Ile-de-France-Mobilité estimated the work at 552 million euros, sparking concerns about the project's feasibility in meeting the club's target for spectator arrival methods.
In his correspondence, Bédier dismissed the cost estimates as inflated and proposed alternative technical solutions that he claims would satisfy PSG's operational requirements. He argued that these adjustments would allow for efficient fan transport without the prohibitive costs previously suggested by experts.
Bédier emphasized his team's readiness to further discuss these plans to demonstrate the seriousness of the candidacy. PSG, which has also been in discussions with the City of Paris, aims to select a site for its potential new stadium by the autumn.
