PSG defender Nuno Mendes will be unavailable for the start of the new Ligue 1 season. The disciplinary committee has handed the 24-year-old a three-match suspension following his actions in the French Super Cup.
Mendes was shown a straight red card during the match against Lens, which PSG lost 0:1, after being involved in a rough incident in the middle of the pitch.
As a result of the ban, the Portuguese defender will miss league fixtures against Rennes (August 23), Lille (August 28), and Monaco (September 4).
The disciplinary committee also sanctioned a Lens player for the same match. Killian Antonio received a two-match ban for a similar foul, ruling him out for the games against Auxerre and Strasbourg.
