Louis van Gaal expresses interest in Netherlands return

Former Barcelona and Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal has expressed his desire to return to the dugout. The 74-year-old, who has been away from the game for an extended period, has officially confirmed that his health issues are now in the past following a successful battle with cancer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, citing De Telegraaf, Van Gaal has offered his services to take charge of the Dutch national team. The position became vacant after Ronald Koeman stepped down following a disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign.

Should he be appointed, it would mark Van Gaal's fourth spell as head coach of the Oranje. His chances appear strong, as many of his prominent compatriots—including Arne Slot, Peter Bosz, and Erik ten Hag—are currently tied to their respective club roles.

While the Royal Dutch Football Association has not yet initiated formal contact with the veteran coach, his appointment remains a viable option on the table and has not been ruled out by the governing body.
