Bayer Leverkusen secured a 2-1 away victory against Köln in the ninth round of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season. The match at the RheinEnergieStadion marked the first home defeat for Rene Wagner's side this season across all competitions, bringing their five-match unbeaten run to an end.
Aleix García opened the scoring for the visitors in the seventh minute with a clinical free-kick. Patrik Schick doubled the lead late in the match to secure the points. Although Said El-Mala pulled one back for Köln in stoppage time, it was too late for a comeback.
Following this result, Bayer Leverkusen move to 16 points, sitting fifth in the table and trailing Freiburg on goal difference. Köln remain in 15th place with nine points, holding a slight advantage over Augsburg and Hoffenheim.
In the next round, Carles Martinez's squad will host Paderborn on November 21, while Rene Wagner's men face a difficult away trip to Bayern Munich on November 20.
