Spanish football is preparing to pay tribute to forward Jesús de Miguel, whose passing has led to an outpouring of solidarity across the league. LaLiga has announced a series of measures to honor the player during the upcoming round of matches.
A minute of silence will be held before the kickoff of every match as a sign of respect. Additionally, referees will pause play during the ninth minute of each game, a symbolic reference to the jersey number the forward wore during his career. This initiative is being carried out in coordination with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and all participating clubs.
The tribute follows the tragic death of Jesús de Miguel, who passed away after suffering a severe collision during a match between Tenerife and Andorra. Despite receiving emergency medical attention and being rushed to a hospital, the player could not be saved.
In addition to the tributes, LaLiga has confirmed the postponement of three matches in LaLiga Hypermotion (CD Castellón vs SD Eibar, Granada CF vs CD Tenerife, and FC Andorra vs RCD Mallorca) and the Liga F clash between Costa Adeje Tenerife and Deportivo Alavés. The league confirmed that these fixtures will be rescheduled, while the remaining matches will proceed as planned with the memorial tributes in place.
