Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono is "deeply affected" by the death of Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel, with a team-mate stating he "would never intentionally hurt anyone."
Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono is said to be "deeply affected" by the death of Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel. The 30-year-old player passed away after suffering a serious injury during a collision with Owono in a Spanish second-division fixture.
Andorra centre-back Lautaro Spatz took to social media to support his team-mate, stating that those who know Owono are aware of the kind of person he is and how much he is suffering. He stressed that the goalkeeper would never intentionally cause harm to anyone.

The collision occurred during stoppage time with the score level at 2-2. Owono rushed out to clear a ball when his knee collided with De Miguel. The forward received treatment on the pitch before being taken to hospital, and the match was subsequently abandoned following the goalkeeper's dismissal.
Spanish police have opened a routine investigation into the death, as national law requires a judicial inquiry for any non-natural death. The Equatoguinean Football Federation confirmed that the 25-year-old goalkeeper is currently going through a period of profound sorrow.
Tenerife has declared six days of official mourning, and European matches this week are holding a minute's silence to pay tribute to De Miguel.
