Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has addressed speculation regarding a potential move to the Germany national team following their surprise round-of-32 exit at the World Cup against Paraguay. Despite intense scrutiny surrounding current head coach Julian Nagelsmann, Klopp insisted that now is not the time to discuss a coaching change.
"I haven't thought about that yet. I understand that when the national coach position is discussed, my name is mentioned in some form. But it's not the moment to really talk about it. I have a job that I enjoy very much. As far as I know, it's not a part-time job," Klopp stated on Magenta TV.
Germany's campaign ended in disappointment after they failed to break down Paraguay's defense, finishing 1-1 after 120 minutes before losing on penalties. Klopp was highly critical of the team's execution, noting that top talents failed to deliver, and argued that the German Football Association (DFB) requires a complete philosophical overhaul.
We absolutely have to change a few things. We can start with the U-10s and wait a few years to see what the results are. Jurgen Klopp
The DFB now faces a difficult decision on whether to maintain faith in Nagelsmann's long-term project or pursue immediate changes after the team's historic exit. Meanwhile, Paraguay advances to a historic round-of-16 tie, unfazed by their underdog status.
