Andoni Iraola warns Liverpool over squad depth amid transfer uncertainty

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has voiced concerns about his squad's readiness as the Premier League season approaches. Despite new arrivals, the manager insisted that the team remains thin, particularly in wide areas following high-profile summer exits.

"As a manager, it's an easy one for me, I wanted the players from the first day on July 13," Iraola said. "I wanted everyone here, all the positions doubled with top-level players. But you understand how the competition works." He noted that while the market remains open, coaches must adapt to the ongoing instability.

The manager expressed frustration with the final ten days of the transfer window, describing the constant speculation as a distraction. Liverpool continues to be linked with moves for Bradley Barcola and Yankuba Minteh, though Iraola remained tight-lipped on specific targets. Meanwhile, the club is set to lose academy graduate Curtis Jones to Inter in a deal worth £30 million.

Off the pitch, Iraola has reshuffled the leadership group to support captain Virgil van Dijk, appointing Alisson Becker, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Joe Gomez. He explained that he opted against naming a goalkeeper as captain due to logistical limitations regarding referee interactions under new rules.
