Andy Thomson appointed as new Hearts head coach

Andy Thomson has been named head coach of SWPL champions Hearts, succeeding Eva Olid.

Andy Thomson has been appointed as the new head coach of Hearts, the current Scottish Women's Premier League champions. The 55-year-old replaces Eva Olid, who departed the club after guiding them to their first-ever top-flight title.

Thomson joins from Rangers, where he had served as assistant manager since early 2025. His background includes significant experience in the women's game, having previously assisted Shelley Kerr during her tenure as manager of the Scotland women's national team. He also held a football development role at Motherwell.

The club is looking to build on the momentum of their breakthrough season under Olid, who transformed the side into champions. Thomson’s immediate task will be to prepare the squad for the upcoming campaign.

Hearts are set to begin the defence of their SWPL title in mid-August.
