Manchester United to appoint Eva Olid as new women's manager

Manchester United are expected to name former Hearts boss Eva Olid as their new women's manager. The 40-year-old Spaniard is set to meet the squad on Wednesday as the club finalises her appointment following the departure of Marc Skinner by mutual consent earlier this week.

Olid arrives at Old Trafford after leaving Hearts this summer. During her tenure, she guided the Scottish club to their first-ever league title in the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL) last season and led the Edinburgh side to their first domestic cup final.

The appointment comes just one month before the start of the Women's Super League (WSL) campaign. United are scheduled to begin their season away to London City Lionesses on September 4.

Former boss Marc Skinner spent five years at the helm, securing the Women's FA Cup in 2024 and guiding the team to the Women's Champions League group stages for the first time. However, the club has shifted its recruitment strategy towards younger players to ensure sustainable long-term success, with United officials previously stating that a history of player development was a key requirement for the next manager.
