Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has confirmed he is ready to feature against England in their upcoming World Cup 2026 match. The 33-year-old, currently playing for Villarreal, missed the team's opening victory over Panama after being denied entry to Canada.
Partey was turned away at the Canadian border after declaring he had never been arrested or charged with a crime, despite facing ongoing legal proceedings in the UK regarding charges of rape and sexual assault—allegations he has pleaded not guilty to.
It's part of football. Things happen outside football that you cannot control. For me now, I feel OK and ready to play. Thomas Partey
US authorities confirmed that Partey was admitted to the United States after being issued a visa, noting he has not been convicted of any crime. He is expected to be available for selection for Tuesday's match in Boston.
Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz emphasized that the squad remains highly motivated. He noted that when facing top-tier opponents like England, no extra encouragement is needed as every player is fully focused on performing well.
