América and Toluca in talks to host Leagues Cup matches
Mexican clubs América and Toluca are negotiating for the right to host their Leagues Cup quarter-final matches at home.
América and Toluca are currently engaged in discussions with the organizers of the Leagues Cup regarding the possibility of hosting the next round of the tournament in Mexico. Both clubs are pushing to play their quarter-final matches at their respective home grounds, Estadio Azteca and Nemesio Diez.
Sources indicate that the dialogue has been complex, but negotiations remain open. While nothing is confirmed, the possibility of playing these matches in Mexico has not been entirely ruled out.
The discussion follows suggestions from coach Antonio Mohamed, who proposed that a ranking system should be implemented to allow top-seeded teams to host matches, aiming for a more balanced competition. The tournament organizers are currently evaluating this proposal.
A definitive resolution must be reached by next week, as the next stage of the tournament is set to take place on the 26th and 27th of this month in a knockout format.
