Steve Clarke has resigned as head coach of the Scotland national team following the confirmation of their exit from the World Cup. The Scottish FA announced the decision shortly after Croatia's victory over Ghana officially ended Scotland's campaign.
Scotland's performance in the tournament included a narrow opening win against Haiti, followed by a 1-0 defeat to Morocco and a 3-0 loss to Brazil. This result left the squad at the bottom of the group, leading to the manager's departure.
The most emotional part of this goodbye is for my players, without whom we wouldn't have had any of the memories that we've accumulated from 2019 until now. They deserve all the praise and adulation that they receive and it was truly an honour to be called their Gaffer. Steve Clarke
In a farewell letter to supporters, Clarke expressed his gratitude for his tenure, which began in 2019. He highlighted his pride in working with the squad and offered his best wishes to whoever takes over the position next.
