On the eve of the Coupe de France final between Lens and Nice, violent clashes broke out between rival fan groups in Paris. Despite the match being classified as high-risk by authorities, conflict erupted on Thursday evening between PSG ultras and Nice supporters.
The trouble began near the Canal Saint-Martin, where local PSG factions met with Nice supporters. Following a brief confrontation on a footbridge, the PSG group retreated into a nearby restaurant. The establishment became the scene of a chaotic attack as the Nice fans stormed the premises, causing significant property damage while staff and customers took cover.
Police intervened to restore order, leading to dozens of arrests. Authorities reported six injuries, including one serious case. Officers seized various items from those detained, including knives, masks, and reinforced combat gloves.
This incident is not an isolated case for Nice supporters during major cup fixtures. The Paris prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the violence, and security measures have been tightened across the city ahead of the final.
