France squad adjusts to extreme heat ahead of World Cup opener
The French national team has begun training in Boston, focusing on physical adaptation to the intense heat expected for their opening match against Senegal.
The France national team has started preparations for their opening match at the World Cup, scheduled for next Tuesday against Senegal. The squad arrived in Boston on Wednesday and conducted their first training session at the Bentley University facility in Waltham.
All 26 players were in attendance, including Jules Koundé. The defender had sustained a minor muscle issue during the previous match against Northern Ireland, but his condition is not considered a cause for concern by the medical staff.
The primary challenge for the squad has been the intense heat. Temperatures during the session soared well above 32°C, with no shade available on the pitch. The players are focusing on adjusting to these climate conditions, which are expected to persist for their match in New York.
«It is also a factor. We will adapt, like every team. We had a meeting about it. We are conditioned, we are ready». Brice Samba
The staff has aligned the training schedule with the timing of the upcoming match. According to defender Maxence Lacroix, this is a necessary step to help the players' bodies adjust to the time zone shift and the prevailing environmental conditions.
