Didier Deschamps still searching for his ideal France starting XI
After two World Cup matches, the left-back and left-wing positions remain undecided for France, while Aurélien Tchouaméni's fitness is being monitored.

Two matches into the World Cup, and France manager Didier Deschamps is still searching for the perfect balance in his side. While the team has delivered results, competition for specific spots remains wide open, and squad management has become a central theme for the coaching staff.
The most contested areas are on the left flank. In defense, Lucas Digne stepped in for Theo Hernandez, ending his streak of seven consecutive starts in major competitions. Despite his offensive intent, Digne's performance featured defensive lapses, leaving the starting role unsettled. The situation on the left wing is similar, with neither Désiré Doué nor Bradley Barcola claiming a definitive lead.
The midfield also requires attention. The inclusion of Manu Koné for the second match to replace Aurélien Tchouaméni was a surprise. It emerged that Tchouaméni was dealing with a minor adductor issue, highlighting the necessity of managing player fitness during a congested tournament schedule.
«When I make changes, I hope that those who start will all be good. It doesn't mean the others weren't good. I need to manage playing time,» said Didier Deschamps.
With only four days of recovery before the final group match against Norway on Friday, further rotation is expected. Deschamps remains focused on balancing player energy while keeping his options open for the knockout stages.
