Viktor Gyokeres could be set for an exit from Arsenal during the upcoming winter transfer window. The Swedish striker is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing time and his failure to cement himself as the undisputed first-choice center-forward under Mikel Arteta.
According to FourFourTwo, Gyokeres was available for transfer as early as last summer. Tension grew before the previous window closed, with the 28-year-old being left on the bench for Premier League matches. Despite netting 21 goals across all competitions last term—leading the team to a Premier League title and a Champions League final—the forward has faced ongoing criticism regarding his overall contribution.
Currently, Kai Havertz is preferred as the central striker, while Mikel Merino has also been deployed in forward areas to provide additional physicality. While Gyokeres has featured in cup competitions and European fixtures, he has yet to convince the coaching staff that he deserves the starting role, with his recent appearances deemed largely disappointing.
