The world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, is returning to the football pitch. According to the official website of the English Football Association, the 40-year-old Jamaican has been registered with Wythenshawe Vets. The club, based in South Manchester, competes in the Cheshire Veterans Football League Premier Division.
Bolt has joined a squad filled with former high-profile professionals. Managed by former Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland, the team includes players such as Emile Heskey, Antonio Valencia, Joleon Lescott, Danny Drinkwater, Papiss Cisse, Oumar Niasse, and Nedum Onuoha.
Since retiring from athletics in 2017, Bolt has explored professional football, most notably spending eight weeks with Central Coast Mariners in Australia's A-League in 2018, where he scored twice in a friendly match. Despite later rejecting a contract from Valletta, he has remained active through charity events like Soccer Aid. As of now, Wythenshawe Vets have not issued an official statement regarding the signing.
