Following updated projections from Opta Analystic, Mexico's probability of winning the 2026 World Cup has increased to 1.8%.

The Mexican national team continues to pursue the 2026 World Cup trophy. Ahead of their pivotal Round of 32 match against Ecuador, optimism among supporters has been bolstered by a fresh statistical update.
According to Opta Analystic, Mexico's probability of lifting the trophy has increased from 1% to 1.8%. The nation currently sits in 13th place among contenders, a list led by France (18.7%), Argentina (16.3%), and Spain (13.5%).
The Round of 32 showdown at the Estadio Ciudad de México is set to be a major event. A capacity crowd of 80,824 is expected, with over 90% of fans cheering for Javier Aguirre's side. The match has also become the most expensive in terms of ticketing, with official prices nearing $2,800 and resale values reaching as high as $17,000.
This clash carries significant historical weight. Mexico and Ecuador have only met once before in a World Cup, back in the 2002 tournament in Korea and Japan. In that group stage fixture, Javier Aguirre’s team secured a 2-1 victory, helping them advance to the Round of 16.
