Ipswich Town Women are on an "inevitable" trajectory to the Women's Super League (WSL), according to club captain Maria Boswell. The 23-year-old believes that the club's current momentum, backed by significant investment and owner intent, makes promotion an unavoidable future milestone.
"I don't think there's any ceiling to what we can go on and achieve. For me, I just see it as inevitable," Boswell told BBC Radio Suffolk. "The way the club's going, I don't see it as any other option whether it's this year, or whether it's in five years' time. I think that is where this club will naturally belong."
Under the management of David Wright, who was appointed in April, the team currently sits third in the second tier after five matches of the 2026-27 season. After opening the campaign with two draws, the Blues have secured three consecutive league victories, positioning themselves strongly in the table.
Boswell, who has been with the club since joining the academy in 2019, noted that the squad’s focus remains on high-intensity training and individual match performance rather than looking too far ahead. "It's just about coming in with the intent that we do every single session and then hopefully going out on a Sunday and putting in performances that earn us the three points," she added.
