Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Colombian prospect Cristian Orozco. The teenager joins the Premier League giants from Colombian side Fortaleza CEIF, successfully concluding a long-running transfer saga that had been agreed in principle since late last year.
In an official statement, the club highlighted the midfielder's pedigree, noting his experience with Colombian youth teams and his leadership as captain at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Orozco himself expressed his excitement about the move: "I know my strengths are my physicality and my technique. I want to adapt as quickly as possible, learn English, and show my level."
This acquisition aligns with the broader strategy overseen by INEOS, focusing on identifying elite talent in emerging markets. Orozco becomes only the third Colombian player to represent United, following in the footsteps of Radamel Falcao and Mateo Mejia.
Despite the anticipation surrounding his arrival, the club has stated that Orozco will not be rushed into senior action. Instead, the young midfielder will be supported within the Manchester United Academy while he settles into his new environment, learns the local culture, and adapts to the physical intensity of English football.
