Martin O'Neill has insisted he remains the right man to lead Celtic forward. The 74-year-old, who previously hinted at retirement following a difficult run of results, has now declared himself fully prepared to continue his work at Parkhead.
The club faced a testing period last month, suffering defeats against Rangers in the league and Ferencvaros in the Europa League. At the time, O'Neill suggested it might be time to end his managerial career. However, following public backing from CEO Michael Nicholson and internal discussions, the manager has renewed his focus.
I am extremely prepared now for it. I want to lead the club, I want to try to win the league and I'm just as determined now as ever before. Martin O'Neill
O'Neill explained that the international break served as a necessary time for reflection. After two interim spells last season that resulted in a league and Scottish Cup double, he committed to a one-year deal with the club. He noted that while the recent week was difficult, it was not the catastrophe some had suggested.
The manager is now fully focused on the team's objectives, stating that he is back, raring to go, and confident that the squad is prepared for the challenges ahead.
