Former Brighton winger Solly March has been left without a club after Crystal Palace unexpectedly decided against finalizing his transfer. The 32-year-old had already successfully passed a medical examination at Selhurst Park, but the London side pulled the plug on the deal at the final hurdle.
According to talkSPORT, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish had intended to sign March on a free transfer to add experience to the squad. However, the club's decision was influenced by a significant backlash from their supporters. A portion of the fanbase reacted negatively to the potential move due to March's long-standing history with Brighton, the club's main arch-rivals.
March spent his entire professional career with Brighton, joining from their youth academy and remaining until his contract expired at the end of last season, when the club chose not to offer him an extension.
Over the course of his career, Solly March has made 194 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 14 goals and providing 20 assists. He is now back on the market as a free agent.
