Queens Park Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara could be unavailable for Friday's Championship fixture against West Ham United due to a growing dispute over international release rules. The Football Association of Finland claims that the 30-year-old was withdrawn from international duty by his club before the Nations League clash with Hungary.
Finland head coach Jacob Friis expressed frustration over the situation, stating that the club insisted the player return to London, forcing Kamara into a difficult position. The Finnish FA maintains that these actions did not align with their expectations or the player's wishes.
Under FIFA regulations, players released for international duty must remain available to their nation for the entire window unless an earlier return is mutually agreed upon. Furthermore, a player withdrawn from international duty is typically prohibited from appearing for their club for five days after the window ends without consent from the national association.
With the West Ham match scheduled just three days after the end of the international window, the club's decision could trigger a formal investigation. The general secretary of the Finnish FA, Marco Casagrande, confirmed that the matter will be referred to FIFA, leaving the player's availability for the upcoming match in doubt.
