Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is set to make his return to action after being given the all-clear following heart surgery. The Scotland international had been sidelined since early September after medical assessments flagged a mild benign arrhythmia, which was detected through the club's advanced wearable monitoring technology.
To permanently resolve the issue, McTominay underwent a minor ablation procedure on September 8 in Manchester. Following a mandatory recovery period and a phase of individual training, he has now successfully passed the rigorous health and safety evaluations required by Italian sports regulations.
This development comes as a major boost for Napoli manager Max Allegri, who is aiming to strengthen his midfield options as the season progresses. Since joining from Manchester United in 2024, McTominay has become a cornerstone of the squad, contributing significantly to their recent domestic success, including the 2024-25 Serie A title.
The Partenopei are currently preparing for their upcoming Serie A fixture against Frosinone this Saturday. McTominay is expected to be included in the matchday squad, with the possibility of making a return from the bench to bolster the team's push up the standings.
