Emma Raducanu has been left out of the Great Britain squad for September's Billie Jean King Cup Finals in China. The British No 1 was a notable absentee in the team selection announced by captain Anne Keothavong.
The squad for the Finals includes Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, Mika Stojsavljevic, and Jodie Burrage. Raducanu has not competed since June 14, when her grass-court campaign was cut short by injury. The 23-year-old subsequently missed Wimbledon after sustaining a stress fracture in her lower right leg.
While not officially confirmed, her absence from the BJK Cup roster suggests that her recovery is still ongoing. This development raises significant doubts about her availability for the US Open, which is scheduled to begin on August 30. Raducanu famously won the title in New York in 2021.
Great Britain is set to face the Czech Republic in the tournament quarter-finals. Captain Keothavong expressed confidence in the selected players, noting their past success and the team's strong record in recent finals.
