Real Madrid has officially confirmed that David Alaba will leave the club at the end of the current season. Since joining from Bayern Munich in 2021, Alaba has secured two Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns.
His tenure in the Spanish capital was frequently interrupted by severe physical setbacks. A cruciate ligament rupture in late 2023 sidelined him for over a year, followed by a meniscal tear that kept him out for most of the summer of 2025. Consequently, he has made only 15 appearances for the team this season.
The club issued a statement expressing gratitude for his contributions during one of the most successful eras in their history. Club president Florentino Pérez reaffirmed the bond between the player and the team.

The club will host a farewell ceremony at the Bernabéu before Saturday's final home fixture against Athletic Bilbao. Following the match, Alaba is set to lead Austria as captain at the upcoming World Cup, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.
