Brazil midfielder Casemiro has shed light on the turning point in the World Cup clash against Japan. The Seleção trailed 0-1 at the interval but staged a 2-1 comeback to secure their place in the round of 16.
According to Casemiro, manager Carlo Ancelotti urged the team to remain calm in the dressing room. Despite controlling the game, the Italian coach emphasized the need to maintain a high-intensity press, assuring the players that opportunities would eventually arise.
In the second half, the coach asked for composure. We were pressing and creating chances, and he told us to keep up the high pressure because the opportunities would come. The best part was the team's mental state. Casemiro
Casemiro also praised the impact of the substitutes, specifically highlighting Endrick, Rayan, and Gabriel Martinelli. It was Martinelli who ultimately scored the decisive goal in the 50th minute of the second half to complete the turnaround.
Brazil now awaits the winner of the Ivory Coast versus Norway match to determine their opponent in the next knockout phase. Carlo Ancelotti's side is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, July 5.
