Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has officially confirmed that Neymar, Casemiro, and Danilo will no longer play for the national team. The decision follows the Seleção's disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign, which ended in a 2-1 round-of-16 defeat to Norway.

Ancelotti noted that the tournament marked the end of the road for the generation of players who were over 30 during the World Cup. The Italian manager stated that the focus must now shift toward identifying new talent capable of competing for the 2028 Copa America.

I think that this World Cup brings a generation of very important players to an end. We are going to look at new players who can come in. I won't say specifically for the World Cup in 2030, but who can already be competitive for our first objective, which is the Copa America in 2028. Carlo Ancelotti

Neymar had previously indicated that his time with the national team was over, a sentiment he reiterated following the team's exit. The forward expressed pride in his international career and his commitment to the jersey throughout his time with the squad.

While preparing for a major transition, Ancelotti clarified that he intends to maintain some continuity. Key senior players like Marquinhos will remain in the setup to help guide the incoming generation and maintain stability during the rebuilding phase.
