Carlos Álvarez visits Estadio Azteca for the first time as an América player

New América recruit Carlos Álvarez experienced a special moment ahead of the Clásico Nacional against Chivas. The Spanish midfielder stepped onto the pitch at Estadio Azteca for the first time wearing the club's colors, although he was not included in Guillermo Almada's starting lineup.

Before the match, Álvarez walked onto the field to tour the venue that will serve as his new home. He observed the stands of the stadium before returning to the rest of the squad to continue match preparations.

During his walk, the new player also had his first interaction with the fans. He stopped to sign a jersey for a young supporter who welcomed him to the club.

Despite being a new addition for the Apertura 2026 tournament, Álvarez did not start in his first Clásico Nacional. Guillermo Almada opted to include him among the substitutes for the clash against Guadalajara, starting Rodolfo Cota, Emilio Lara, Miguel Vázquez, Dagoberto Espinoza, Cristian Borja, Israel Reyes, Alan Cervantes, Raphael Veiga, Alejandro Zendejas, Brian Rodríguez, and Henry Martín instead.

His presence on the bench leaves open the possibility that he could see minutes during the match. Álvarez joined the squad as a new offensive alternative, and the Clásico Nacional served as his introduction to the environment surrounding América and its legendary home stadium.
