Monterrey beats América on penalties to reach Leagues Cup Final

Monterrey once again proved to be a difficult hurdle for América, eliminating the Águilas in a penalty shootout to advance to the Leagues Cup Final. The match ended 2-2 after regular time, with the shootout decided by a single miss from Alan Cervantes.

The encounter was defined by high tension and officiating controversy. Early in the game, Henry Martín went down in the box following contact with Carlos Salcedo, but the referee waved play on and opted against using VAR to review the incident.
