Barcelona targeted Dimarco: swap deal proposed in the summer

Last summer, Barcelona looked into reshaping their left flank and, having long viewed Alejandro Balde as a player they could sell, asked Inter Milan about the Italian full-back Federico Dimarco.

According to Sport, the idea was a swap involving the two left-backs plus a small fee in Inter's favour. However, the move never progressed because the Italian club had no interest in a deal on those terms.

Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, continues to monitor the situation, especially Dimarco's contract status, with an eye on future transfer windows. If no agreement is reached between the player and Inter, Barcelona are expected to try again.

Inter have already confirmed that, through an automatic renewal clause in the agreements signed in 2023, Dimarco's contract now runs until 30 June 2028. There is, however, another round of talks planned, with the player's agent working with Inter's management to secure a longer deal with improved terms. Inter intend to meet the requests of last season's MVP as far as possible, though they must operate within constraints imposed by Oaktree.
