Vincent Kompany nears return following health incident

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is on the path to a full recovery after collapsing during a training session with the reserve team two weeks ago, his assistant Aaron Danks confirmed on Friday.

The incident occurred on October 23. Following his hospitalization, the Belgian manager was treated for meningeal irritation, an inflammation of the tissues surrounding the brain or spinal cord.

I have had some very good phone calls with Vince. He sounds very positive and seems to be on the right track towards a full recovery. The international break offers a good opportunity to reflect and see when he can return. Aaron Danks

For now, Danks will serve as interim manager for the fifth consecutive time for Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Mainz. During Kompany's absence, the team has maintained strong form, securing three wins and one draw.

The Bavarian side will not play any official matches until November 20 due to the upcoming international break, providing the manager with additional time to recuperate.
