Bayern Munich's 6-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga was marked by an unusual scene on the sidelines, as manager Vincent Kompany remained atypically calm throughout the match, refraining from his usual enthusiastic celebrations. The Belgian coach's subdued demeanor was later explained by the club.
Max Eberl, Bayern's sporting director, confirmed that Kompany had been dealing with health setbacks in the days leading up to the game. "He has been suffering from an infection all week, and on top of that, he sustained a sports injury to his hip. Now he is lying in the dressing room, but he is doing well," the executive confirmed. As a result, the manager had to skip the post-match press conference.
On the pitch, the standout performance came from Colombian star Luis Diaz, who delivered a masterful display by scoring a hat-trick (12', 47', 69'). Further goals from Aleksandar Pavlovic, Michael Olise, and Harry Kane sealed the dominant result, while Andrija Maksimovic scored a late consolation for Leipzig. Midfielder Joshua Kimmich joked about his manager's condition, stating: "I didn't know anything about it. I think he just doesn't want to talk to you. Besides, he's not the youngest anymore."
The emphatic win allows Bayern to put recent draws behind them and build momentum for their upcoming Champions League clash against Arsenal, where the club expects Kompany to be fully recovered and back in the dugout.
