Shakhtar Donetsk central defender Valeriy Bondar shared his thoughts following the victory over Kolos in the ninth round of the Ukrainian championship. The match ended 2-1, with the captain scoring in the first half after a delivery from Yehor Nazaryna.
According to Bondar, despite a strong start, the team once again faced unnecessary complications. "I believe we could have finished the game much more calmly. There were plenty of chances to increase our lead, but we love to create problems for ourselves. That unnecessary conceded goal made us nervous towards the end," the defender admitted.
The player also joked about his scoring form, noting that defenders might soon have to chase down the attackers in the goalscorer rankings. Regarding tactical aspects, Bondar highlighted that the goal was the result of a rehearsed set-piece routine emphasized by the coaching staff.
The importance of the result was paramount ahead of a busy schedule, and the team is now fully focused on European competition. "There are many matches ahead, but the next one is against Inter, so all our thoughts are already there," the 27-year-old concluded.
