Skrypnyk on Foggy Win vs Chornomorets: Substitutions and Set-Pieces Decided It

Zorya Luhansk secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Chornomorets Odesa in a match marked by extreme weather conditions, as thick fog blanketed the pitch throughout the encounter.

Manager Viktor Skrypnyk noted that in such tight games, set-pieces often become the deciding factor. The match turned in favor of the Luhansk side when substitutes Igor Gorbach and Vladlen Yurchenko combined to create a decisive opportunity from a set-piece.

We always want to see maximum help from the players who come off the bench. A compliment to the guys who entered the pitch today from the bench. There was more aggression and movement. Viktor Skrypnyk

Skrypnyk drew parallels to his time in the Bundesliga, recalling a similar experience where poor visibility affected a professional match. He emphasized that the team understood the importance of staying focused for the full duration despite the environmental challenges.

Addressing the absence of key defender Anderson Jordan from the starting XI, Skrypnyk explained it as a necessary rest period. He noted that the player had been playing every minute of every match, and giving him a breather is standard practice, comparing it to the load management of world-class players like Messi and Ronaldo.
