Ukraine's national socca team continues its successful campaign at the 2026 European Championship in Albania, securing a spot in the quarter-finals after a dominant victory over Montenegro in the round of 16.
Anton Ross opened the scoring seven minutes into the match following a cross from Komisar. Despite failing to convert a penalty after a handball by the Montenegrins, Ukraine doubled their lead through Hoshkoderia. Ross sealed the victory in the 39th minute, scoring from his own half into an empty net as Montenegro pushed forward in a desperate attempt to recover.
Ukraine entered the knockout stage after finishing first in their group with 7 points, following wins over Latvia (5:0) and Portugal (3:0), and a draw against Kazakhstan (2:2).
Next, Ukraine will face Spain in the quarter-finals. The Spaniards advanced after completing a comeback against Italy and winning the subsequent shootout. The match for a semi-final spot kicks off at 23:00 Kyiv time.
