Al-Hilal has officially filed a complaint with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation regarding the behavior of Al-Taawoun supporters during their recent league match. The game ended in a 6-0 victory for Al-Hilal.
During the match, a section of the home crowd attempted to provoke visiting midfielder Ruben Neves by repeatedly chanting the name of the late Diogo Jota.
Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota maintained a close friendship, having played together for Porto, Wolverhampton, and the Portugal national team. Diogo Jota tragically died on July 3, 2025, in Spain, following a car accident that also claimed the life of his younger brother, Andre Silva.
Al-Hilal has deemed the actions of the Al-Taawoun fans unacceptable. The club is now awaiting a formal review of the complaint by the Saudi Arabian football authorities.
