Tottenham misery continues as Aston Villa secure first win

The pressure is mounting on Roberto De Zerbi after Tottenham suffered a humiliating 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa. Spurs remain without a league victory this season as defensive lapses once again proved costly in north London.
The visitors opened the scoring just before half-time when Johan Manzambi converted a pass from Boubacar Kamara. Villa extended their lead after the interval through Nicolas Jackson and Emiliano Buendia. Although substitutes Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke scored late in the game, Tottenham ran out of time to complete the comeback.
Manzambi was the standout performer, becoming only the second player to score and assist on his first Premier League start for Aston Villa, following Kevin Phillips in 2005. His contribution was vital to Unai Emery's side finally claiming their first win of the campaign.
The result marks a grim milestone for Spurs, who have now lost 50 of their 141 Premier League fixtures at their new stadium. With only two points from five games, Tottenham sit 18th in the table, while Villa climb to 15th with four points. De Zerbi now faces the urgent task of fixing his side's defensive woes to turn their early-season fortunes around.
