Roberto De Zerbi sees progress in Tottenham despite Liverpool defeat
Despite a winless start to the season and a cup exit against Liverpool, Roberto De Zerbi insists Tottenham is heading in the right direction.

Tottenham Hotspur are still searching for their first win under Roberto De Zerbi. Four rounds into the Premier League season, the team remains goalless, and on Tuesday, they were eliminated from the cup after a 1:3 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
Despite the scoreline, the Italian manager pointed to statistical evidence suggesting his tactical model is beginning to take root. Tottenham outperformed the hosts in expected goals (2.34 to 1.53), possession (56%), and total shots (17). De Zerbi believes the team is currently just lacking luck, noting missed opportunities from the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Mohammed Kudus, Destiny Udogie, Omar Marmoush, and Savio.

De Zerbi emphasized that the players are showing the right mentality and fighting spirit. Looking ahead, Tottenham faces a crucial home match against Aston Villa on Saturday, who are also winless this season. The manager has called for more aggression in the final third.
