Over the last two decades, the financial distance between Real Madrid and Inter has become vast. In the 2002-03 season, Real Madrid recorded revenues of 193 million euros, while Inter stood at 162 million euros. By 2024-25, those figures shifted dramatically: Real Madrid reached 1.161 billion euros, while Inter generated 546 million euros.

Infrastructure and global brand reach are key drivers of this disparity. The new Santiago Bernabéu generated 360 million euros last season, four times the 90 million euros earned at the Meazza. Furthermore, Real Madrid is closing in on half a billion followers across social media, compared to Inter's 100 million. Commercial income follows a similar trajectory, with the Madrid shirt deal worth approximately 240 million euros annually, significantly higher than Inter's 72 million euros.

Despite these differing scales, both clubs are surprisingly similar in their management philosophy. Real Madrid has remained profitable every year since Florentino Pérez became president, extending that streak to 26 consecutive years. Meanwhile, Inter is preparing to post its second consecutive positive financial result, following a 35 million euro profit in 2024-25, even without extraordinary Champions League or Club World Cup revenues.

These two club models sit at opposite ends of the economic spectrum, yet both are driven by a commitment to sustainability. Real Madrid has focused on growing revenue far beyond sporting costs, while Inter has remained dedicated to rationalizing spending and benefiting from favorable debt refinancing terms.
