Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is looking for unconventional solutions to optimize his squad. The Portuguese coach is considering positional changes for four players in an effort to maximize the team's potential amidst current challenges.
One key experiment involves using Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield. While a previous attempt against Inter Milan had mixed results, Mourinho believes that against teams relying on a compact, deep defensive block, the Englishman's vision and distribution could be decisive, especially with defensive cover provided by Aurelien Tchouameni.
Tchouameni himself is being eyed as a solution in central defense. With Eder Militao and Raul Asencio sidelined, and Antonio Rudiger managing his minutes, the coach sees the Frenchman as a stable partner for Dean Huijsen. Mourinho values Tchouameni's previous experience in the role and prefers him over academy prospects.
Tactical shifts could also involve Federico Valverde and Arda Guler. Valverde, who has already seen minutes at right-back, could fill that role permanently to provide attacking depth down the flank. This would allow Guler to operate more centrally, occupying areas similar to Jude Bellingham where his eye for a decisive pass can be better utilized.
