Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a significant hamstring injury during Saturday's Scottish Premiership victory over Motherwell.

The Scotland international limped off just eight minutes into the match at Ibrox. His replacement, Ryan Naderi, went on to score the only goal of the game shortly after entering the field.

It looks quite significant, to be honest. It's a similar injury we think that he had at Hearts last January. That was a period of time that he was out with that. We'll get the scan done on Monday and see how it looks then rather than speculating. It's disappointing because he was leading the line and scoring a few goals in the last couple of games. Shankland, who signed for the club in May, has made a strong start with four goals in his first 10 appearances. His absence for the coming weeks serves as a major blow to manager Derek McInnes as he looks to maintain the team's momentum.
