In a seventh-round match of the Bundesliga, Werder Bremen secured a 3:2 away victory against Mainz. Striker Niclas Füllkrug was once again the focal point, finding the back of the net for the sixth consecutive league match.

With this performance, Füllkrug becomes only the second player in Bundesliga history to score in six or more games in a row. The feat was previously achieved by Rudi Völler in the 1982/83 season, who held a streak of seven consecutive games.

Füllkrug also matched Völler’s record for the most goals scored after seven rounds, sitting at eight. This tally places him at the top of the league's scoring charts, leading Patrik Schick of Bayer Leverkusen by two goals.

Currently, Werder Bremen sits in sixth place in the league standings with 12 points. The team’s next test is scheduled for October 27 against Borussia Dortmund.
